ecoTwin

The SWISS COMBI ecoTwin is the combination of our ecoDry drum dryer and our belt dryer. The steam extracted from the ecoDry is converted into hot water in a condenser, which then supplies the belt dryer with heat. This makes optimum use of the energy input.

With the ecoTwin it is possible to run the same raw material through both dryers one after the other, or to dry different products in parallel in the two dryers (e.g. an unpleasant smelling product in the ecoDry and wood chips on the belt dryer).

Due to the double use of energy, the energy demand is about 550 kW per ton of water evaporation. This is a very low value compared to the otherwise usual 1,000 kW per ton of water evaporation.

In the ecoTwin, the belt dryer is usually the pre-dryer and the ecoDry the final dryer. Depending on the product, however, the reverse sequence is also possible. In this case, the wet product is first pre-dried with superheated steam in the ecoDry drum dryer. Final drying takes place particularly gently through air drying on the belt dryer.

Drying of one or two different products

With the ecoTwin, it is possible to pre-dry a specific product first on the belt dryer and then carry out the final drying in the ecoDry. Alternatively, one product can be dried on the belt dryer and another in the ecoDry.

Energy optimized drying

The energy used in the SWISS COMBI ecoTwin is used twice: first in the ecoDry and then on the belt dryer. In this way, we achieve a comparatively low energy requirement of approx. 550 kW per ton of water evaporation.

High economic efficiency

The SWISS COMBI ecoTwin is particularly attractive for seasonal industries. It can be used to dry apple pomace or chopped corn during the season, for example, and sewage sludge in the ecoDry and wood chips on the belt dryer outside the season. In this way, the plant is optimally utilized and thus more economical.

Excellent product quality

On the belt dryer, drying is carried out with heated air, in the ecoDry with superheated steam. Both are very gentle on the product and thus enable outstanding product quality.

Raw materials suitable for the ecoTwin

When it comes to drying, more is often possible than you think. We develop and build plants for a wide variety of raw materials - see the list above. But we can do more. Do you have a new task for us?

We would be happy to discuss the possibilities with you in order to find the right drying solution for you as well.

The SWISS COMBI ecoTwin is a combination of our ecoDry and our belt dryer, whereby the belt dryer is heated with the waste heat of the ecoDry. This creates a very energy-efficient drying system, which can even dry one or two different raw products simultaneously.

In its more than 60-year history, SWISS COMBI has already developed and built three ecoTwin plants - always with technology tailored to the specific needs of our customers. Each SWISS COMBI plant is individual, each had its own special challenge. You can find out how we mastered them in the following case studies.

  • Raw Material:

This ecoTwin drying system can not only optimally dry two different products at the same time, it also enables different campaigns to be run - one for biomass and one for sewage sludge. Thus, corn meal, sugar beets, and apple pomace can be dried in the fall, while sewage sludge and wood chips are dried during the rest of the year.

In this ecoTwin system, the exhaust steam from the drum dryer is condensed. The warm condensate thus generated supplies the belt dryer with heat. In this system, the drum dryer is the pre-dryer, and the belt dryer is the final dryer.
